The Effect Of Google Caffeine On SEO

Google are going to try to improve searches by using a new algorithm which they have named  Caffeine. Released on June 8th, Google Caffeine promises to deliver faster searches and improved quality. Those who use SEO to promote their websites might feel a little concerned by a change like this. So will Google Caffeine have a big effect on SEO? Does it mean that we all need to go back to the drawing board?

Well, so far so good. The algorithm has been running for more than a week now and so far there hasn’t been any major changes to the way things are done in the search engines. There have been no stories of people who were previously top of the results for their keywords suddenly finding they are off the radar. So even though Google Caffeine may yet have an impact on SEO it does not look like there is going to be any immediate changes or problems.

Google are constantly trying to improve their search results and their business success is based on their ability to provide quality to people using the web. If they don’t stay on top of this a new search engine could come along and knock them off their perch. Because Google are not going to stop with this it is important for us to realize that quality of our sites is more important than SEO. This current change might not have caused too much of a stir but the future of doing well on the web will be all about providing content the visitors actually want. In order words we need to stop trying to please the web crawlers and algorithms and focus more on pleasing our visitors – that way we just can’t lose.
